Meet Our Staff

Susan Wolfe is a native of Arizona and founded NARS in January 2006. Susan has 30+ years of experience with horses and has a background in both the medical field and business. She has been in the horse industry since early 2000. With her unique background she developed useful skills and knowledge to manage the barn as well as the horses and their owners needs. She has personally owned teams of draft horses, quarter horses, gypsy vanners, mules and many more. Susan is the mother of 2 grown children who are working hard to keep her well stocked with 5 grandchildren...Her passion today is traveling, trail riding and spending time with her grand babies!

 Mike Donoghue purchased Northern Arizona Riding Stables in late 2020 and is now running it together with Susan. Mike's lifelong dream was to own and operate an equestrian based business that could someday become a legacy for his children. In the short time here, Mike instantly gravitated to a sport that combined his love of horses and his love of guns and soon found Cowboy Mounted Shooting. Like everything else in life Mike poured all his time and energy into the sport with his son Pierce joining the fun. They are now traveling regularly to compete. In his spare time Mike enjoys the outdoors, hunting, riding, shooting but especially spending time with his daughter Reagan and son Pierce. 

Sofia Nasato is our new barn manager here at NARS. She came to us strait out of The Grand Canyon packing mules 

every day and to say she is tough and hard working is an understatement!

Originally from New Jersey, she called Kentucky home. With years of English and Western riding she started her professional career in horsemanship as a therapeutic riding instructor. Years later, she developed the travel bug and worked and traveled to work at Dude ranches in Montana, Colorado, and Arizona for the next 4 years. In 2023 she switched gears to pack supply mules for The Grand Canyon at Phantom Ranch. After enough crazy canyon adventures and the need for flat ground she found us here at NARS and it could not have been a better fit! In her spare time, Sophia enjoys hiking, traveling and being with good friends...and her kitty Sissy!
